Shining the Light Through the Eye of a Needle

Happy Twentieth Sunday After Pentecost!

A special thanks to everyone who came and supported our Mission and Vision work last Sunday.  It was an awesome experience, and it tasted pretty good too!  Those 4 “P”s: Purpose, Presence, Partnership, and Passion, will continue to be prevalent in all we do as we do God’s work as a community of faith.

Now, we move from the Mission and Vision to Financing it, something we’re often afraid to talk about in church.  Money is often a taboo subject for many of us, and that’s not a good thing.  It results in a warped relationship with something Jesus preached on more than any other topic.  And ignoring one of Jesus most frequent topics means we are ignoring one of the biggest areas of our spiritual growth!  This is where partnership comes in concrete form: your contributions directly affect the work the church can do in the world.

In truth, money is like a walnut: morally neutral, and it’s what we do with it that puts morality into those slips of green paper cloth – or round walnuts.  We’ll read about Jesus confronting a poor financial relationship in Mark 10:17-31, and through that encounter delivering some revolutionary gospel truths.  You’ll hear an extended livestream so some members of our Finance Team can brief you on our Financial Awareness Campaign which will last until November 7th.  I’ll see you at worship!
